One Day Only Gold plating is an electrochemical process by which a thin layer of gold is deposited on the surface of another metal. An electric current draws gold ions, which are positively charged, through a gold or rhodium solution, allowing them to adhere to the negatively charged piece of metal. A Electroplate Pen is provided with all the solutions you need for the day. At the end of the day the kit is yours to take and use in your workshops. This is the only course like it and products have been selectively made for us by Gold Plating Solutions in near by Kent. We pen plate to advance our work. It’s an idea solution for creating pieces in different finishes and especially for using in photographing alternative options for your website. It’s much cheaper to make a model piece in vermeil than gold. This course is also suitable for handbag restorers who want to be able to refresh hardwear and car detailers that want to be able to plate metal car badges with out removing from a vehicle. I welcome all trades not just jewellers! You will learn how to prepare your finished jewellery or objects and then finish with gold or palladium plate. This is a versatile method of changing silver into a gold vermeil finish or highlighting accents with gold or palladium. Sappho will take you through the alchemy and the science of how the method works along with the very important process of preparing the items for plating. We will use the pen and demonstrate how it can be used as a tank method too. This is an intensive day and an over night stay the day before can be added. Our over night stay includes a quality two course dinner and a full breakfast. You will keep the pen and solutions you’ve been using on the day.
