Introduction to Hand Engraving with John Cook
Ever wanted to learn a traditional craft skill? No previous craft or art experience is necessary as this Hand Engraving Introduction course is an in-depth introduction to the techniques and tools of hand engraving on metal. The great thing about hand engraving is that it needs minimal tooling to set up. It doesn’t take up any room and it’s is relatively clean to do.
This course is open to anyone wanting to explore the art, we welcome everyone. You do not need any experience of jewellery making. It is suitable for print makers, horologist, jeweller, artists and hobbyists. A small group of just 6 people you will get expert tuition with a master of their field.
Jewellers, silversmiths or metalworker looking to try engraving, this workshop is perfectly placed for your development. With demonstrations by the tutor and plenty of time to practice engraving under their guidance, our aim is for you to come away with the knowledge and confidence to develop your skills over time. You will learn how to set up hand tools, where to purchase them from, how to transfer designs to the metal. One of Johns strengths is bright cutting, perfect for stone setting and decorative finish.
